According to the Sheriff’s department, a child was left home alone when a man broke through the door and started ransacking the house, the child thwarted the crime by calling 911, officials said. A person who the child did not know started knocking on the door just before 2:59 p.m. on Monday, March 30, in the neighborhood located on the 7400 block of Palm Avenue. The child immediately called 911, when the man kicked in the door and began taking different items, sheriff’s officials wrote in a news release. The deputies arrived less than a minute later and chased down the suspected burglar, who tried to flee the scene. Then the suspect jumped over several fences during the chase, officials wrote in the release. Robert Michael Odell, 47, was arrested nearby in the 27200 block of Norwood Street. He was booked into the West Valley Detention Center on suspicion of burglary, attempted burglary and auto theft and held in lieu of $150,000 bail, jail logs show. Deputies found the boy hiding in the house, terrified of what just happened. Officials believe their were two other men were involved in the crime. The investigation is ongoing and officials asked anybody with information to call 909-425-9793.
