WHAT IS BAIL?
Bonds are issued by an insurance company to a bail bond company for the release of a person who is in custody. Bail Bonds insures the court that the defendant will appear in court each and every time they are ordered to do so. The bail bond company is ultimately responsible for the full amount of the bond if the defendant fails to appear in court. The cosigner is also responsible for the defendant’s appearance. A cosigner is a person who signs on the bail bond for the release of the arrestee who has been arrested. If the arrestee fails to appear in court, it’s the responsibility of the cosigner to bring him or her into our office immediately. We can get the warrant recalled and a new court date. If the defendant is no where to be found, the bail bond company has 6 months to find the defendant and bring them back to court. Once this is done, and the defendant is either back in custody or goes back to court, the warrant gets recalled and the bond gets exonerated. Both the bail bond company and the cosigner have no more liability for the bail bond.
